The Catalyst Project Newsletter: Creating a Family Culture of Literacy
We are excited to announce our new family workshop that will kick off our efforts focused on Creating a Family Culture of Literacy!

Welcome to The Catalyst Project Newsletter! In 2025, we are excited to provide a newsletter so you can stay up to date on all of the collaborations we are tackling for transformation. We are collaborating for our diverse communities through social entrepreneurship, leadership development, business consulting, non-profit support, and advocacy projects.
Literacy and comprehension is a superpower that helps us navigate who we are, understand the world we live in, and create a better and brighter future. Alexander Montalvo - Founder | CEO | ![]() |
Literacy has been essential to my life since an early age. I was fortunate to have parents that wanted reading to be accessible and enjoyed, so we would always have books growing up. Books were celebratory and would be given as presents during birthdays and holidays. While my parents didn’t know the ins and outs of all the questions I would have, they would equip me and my sisters with encyclopedias and books to satisfy our inquiries.
As parents, my wife and I have worked to create a family culture of literacy so that our daughters can continue celebrating the joy of reading books and the conversations that come from them. Creating memorable experiences through different types of activities and adventures has helped our daughters enjoy the journey of learning and growing.
I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with amazing teachers, community leaders, fellow advocates/activists, and more while fighting to improve public education at the Texas State Capitol in Austin, helping lead local PTA’s, or working to improve 3rd grade literacy through community engagement. These experiences and efforts continue to show how essential it is that we address the literacy gaps we see in our communities.
I’m excited to launch this effort and look forward to building a strong literacy community with all of you!
